Inspired by the television show, Extreme Couponing, I decided to look into couponing myself. Previously, when I had tried couponing, it seemed smarter to go with the store brand which was usually cheaper. However, you actually can save more money with a coupon, but it takes some effort. If you check your store’s weekly sales circulars, you can find out which of your products are going to be on discount that week. Download coupons from the internet or get the from the paper. Most stores will let you combine a store coupon with a manufacturer coupon. Add that to the sale price and you can end up with items that are hugely discounted or even free! I have actually cut my grocery bill in half! I never would have thought it possible. I have only been couponing for two weeks. Who knows? Maybe I will become as good as the people on Extreme Couponing. And remember, if I can do it, then you can, too.

Lesson Learned:
I love coupons. I save an average of $60 each time I go to the grocery store by using coupons and buying what is on sale (I don’t do the extreme couponing right now). I love hearing about people putting a little effort into saving a LOT of money, it really inspires me to be more critical about my choices in my purchases.
People often ask me where to get coupons. The main location I get mine is from thecouponclippers.com. For a few bucks I can give $50 worth of coupons and it’s all mailed right to my door. I also try to take advantage of what is on sale in the weekly circular or keeping an eye on price tags.
