This past weekend I decided to take advantage of a Father’s Day sale at Kohl’s which was a percentage off certain items in the store, in addition to a 40% coupon I had. I needed some new work clothes so this was a good opportunity to stock up on a few necessities I needed.
All in all I left the store with $160 savings in my pocket after the discounts, and a hefty set of needed additions to my closet by combining a large sale with coupons.

Lesson Learned:
I love holiday sales for the most part. All stores go overboard with them, obviously, but you can really catch some good deals if you have the patience to time things right. Topping those discounts with coupons certainly makes the savings significantly better.
Any time I know I’m going to need to buy a big ticket item like a new appliance, or one year for Christmas I bought my father one of those large Craftman tool-chests, I keep an eye on the holiday sales I know are coming up like Labor Day, Patriots Day, Memorial Day, etc. That way I can pick a time where that particular item might be on sale for a significant discount, and also watch out for any coupons (or coupon codes online) that I could combine with that particular sale.
So the next time you know you’re going to need to go clothes shopping, see if there is a holiday coming up you can wait for. July 4th is right around the corner, so that would be our next ideal time to shop for store deals and start looking for coupons on things we know we might need in the near future.
