Money Drain: $150 Lost by Changing Flight Dates

Faith and Finance recently posted about their own personal “Stupid Tax” as coined by Dave Ramsey, or “Money Drain” as coined by yours truly.

Now this one hurt. If you make a change with your airline ticket, you’ll have to pay a change fee. For American Airlines, this fee is $150. I booked a flight this summer and failed to double-check my calendar. Ouch! I had to change the flight because of a conflicting date, and ended up forking over $150 to do it. If I had just planned a little more carefully, I could be $150 richer.

Lesson Learned:
This is an excellent tip that I didn’t know about in regards to fees for changing a flight itinerary. Now I know that when I plan a trip to be extra sure the dates are good, and to also check any fees for having to change flights with that particular airline.
