Success Story and Money Tip: The Power of Asking Saved $156/year

I ran across an article on Money Saving Mom about how one woman saved $156/year on her cable bill just by asking for an introductory rate.

Recently, I was able to reduce my bill by $13 per month ($156/year), plus they increased my DSL speed to a faster connection, just by making a phone call to their Rentention Dept.

This reminds me about a time in 2007 when I was still taking control of my finances and decided to call up both of my credit cards and ask for a lower APR. One had an 18.15% APR which was reduced to 14.5% just by asking, and another was 28.8% APR which dropped to 16.9% APR just by asking. Just from a phonecall.

I am not sure how easy this would be now-a-days, but it’s certainly worth the effort.
