Success Story: $104 Saved by Pricing Online First

I was in the market for a new office chair for my home, and looked up some prices at Office Depot for a chair I was familiar with due to work. Online the chair was listed on discount for $108. I decided to stop by the local Office Depot to look at the chair (and to save on delivery charges), but they had it listed for $212.

The next day I decided to take a print-out of the online price back to the local Office Depot, and fortunately for me they decided to honor the online sale price, saving me a total of $104, or almost half-off my chair purchase.

Lesson Learned:
This is another great way to get discounted rates on items you purchase, comparison shopping online to what is in the store, or even what is listed in a competitors catalog. I know that this past holiday season Wal-Mart did a huge push for price match guarantees throughout the Christmas season for their competitors. It doesn’t take much effort on our part, and could clearly save us a ton of money in the end.
